What Laundry Cabinetry Includes
Custom laundry cabinetry covers everything needed to make the room work harder. Here is what a typical laundry fit-out from Cobbitty Grove includes:
- Overhead cupboards for storing cleaning products, spare linen, and household supplies out of sight and off the floor
- Bench-height cabinetry with a durable benchtop for folding, sorting, and ironing
- Pull-out hamper systems built into the cabinetry so dirty laundry is sorted at the source and hidden from view
- Appliance housing for front-loader or top-loader washing machines and dryers, including stacked configurations where space is limited
- Broom and utility storage with full-height cupboards designed for mops, vacuums, ironing boards, and other tall items
- Sink cabinetry with undersink storage, plumbing access panels, and benchtop integration
- Soft-close hardware on every drawer and door for quiet daily use and long-term durability
Materials, finishes, and colours are selected to match or complement your kitchen cabinetry. Many clients renovate the laundry alongside the kitchen so both rooms share the same door profiles, handles, and colour palette.
Why Your Builder Laundry Is Not Working
Volume-builder laundries are designed to meet a minimum standard at handover. After a few years of family use, the shortcomings become obvious:
No bench space. Without a proper folding and sorting surface, clean laundry ends up on the couch, the bed, or the kitchen island. A custom benchtop in the laundry keeps that task where it belongs.
No storage system. Open shelving holds products but does not organise them. Overhead cupboards with internal dividers and pull-out baskets keep supplies accessible and tidy.
No sorting solution. Whites, darks, delicates, and school uniforms all need somewhere to go before wash day. Built-in hamper systems sort laundry at the source and keep the floor clear.
No connection to the entry. In many Macarthur homes, the laundry doubles as the entry from the garage. Without hooks, shoe storage, or bag drop zones, this transition space becomes a dumping ground. Custom cabinetry addresses both laundry and entry storage in a single design. If you need dedicated entry storage, we also build mudroom cabinetry as a standalone or combined project.
How the Process Works
Laundry cabinetry projects at Cobbitty Grove follow the same structured approach as all our joinery work:
Consultation and Measure
We visit your home to measure the laundry, assess plumbing and electrical locations, and discuss what is and is not working. You tell us how you use the room, what you need to store, and how the laundry connects to the rest of the house.
Design and Layout
Our designers create a custom layout with 3D drawings showing cabinet positions, bench heights, appliance locations, and internal fittings. You visit our Smeaton Grange showroom to choose finishes, handles, and colours. Adjustments are made at this stage until the design matches your needs.
Manufacturing
Every component is built in our Smeaton Grange workshop. Panels, drawers, shelves, and frames are cut, edged, and assembled by our team to your approved specifications.
Installation
Our installers fit the cabinetry on a scheduled timeline, coordinating with plumbers if tap or drain locations are being moved. Most laundry installs are completed within one to two days once cabinetry arrives on site.
Laundry Cabinetry as Part of a Bigger Project
The laundry is the room most commonly bundled with a kitchen renovation. When you are already working with Cobbitty Grove on a custom kitchen design, adding laundry cabinetry to the same project saves on design time, manufacturing setup, and installation scheduling. It also gives both rooms a consistent look and feel.
Other rooms that pair well with a laundry fit-out include mudroom storage for the garage entry, linen cupboards for hallways, and utility cabinetry for garages. If you are thinking about multiple rooms, we can scope and quote them together.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a laundry cabinetry project take?
A standalone laundry fit-out typically takes four to six weeks from design approval to completed installation. If bundled with a kitchen project, the laundry is built and installed within the broader timeline.
Can you work around my existing plumbing?
Yes. Most laundry cabinetry projects work with the existing tap and drain locations. If you want to move the sink or add a second tap point, we coordinate with a licensed plumber as part of the project.
How much does laundry cabinetry cost?
Cost depends on the room size, number of cabinets, materials, and internal fittings. Our free Foundations Package includes a detailed quote so you can plan your budget before committing.
Can I match my laundry to my kitchen cabinetry?
Yes. We use the same materials, door profiles, handles, and colour options across rooms. Many clients choose matching finishes so the laundry feels connected to the rest of the home.
