Pantry Cabinetry Design and Build

The pantry is one of the hardest-working spaces in any kitchen. It holds dry goods, appliances, cookware, cleaning supplies, and everything else that needs to be within reach but out of sight. When the pantry does not work, the entire kitchen feels cluttered and disorganised.

Cobbitty Grove designs and builds custom pantry cabinetry for homes across Camden, Oran Park, Campbelltown, and the wider Macarthur and Southern Highlands regions. Whether you need a walk-in pantry, a butler’s pantry, or a redesigned reach-in pantry, every shelf, drawer, and fitting is built to your measurements and configured around what you actually store.

Types of Pantry Cabinetry We Build

Every home has different storage needs and available space. Cobbitty Grove builds three main pantry configurations, each tailored to suit your kitchen layout and daily habits.

Walk-In Pantry A walk-in pantry gives you floor-to-ceiling storage on two or three walls with enough room to step inside and see everything at a glance. We design walk-in pantries with adjustable shelving, pull-out drawers for heavy items, dedicated appliance housing, and clear sightlines so nothing gets lost at the back. This configuration works well in newer homes across Oran Park, Gregory Hills, and Harrington Park where floor plans often include a dedicated pantry space off the kitchen.

Butler’s Pantry A butler’s pantry functions as a secondary preparation and storage zone between the kitchen and dining area. It typically includes bench space, a sink, additional cabinetry, and room for appliances you want accessible but hidden from the main kitchen. Cobbitty Grove builds butler’s pantries with the same materials and finish standards as the primary kitchen so the two spaces feel connected and consistent.

Reach-In Pantry For kitchens where space is limited, a reach-in pantry maximises storage within a standard cupboard footprint. We replace shallow shelves and wasted depth with pull-out baskets, tiered racks, door-mounted storage, and internal drawers that bring items to you instead of burying them behind each other.

What Goes Into Custom Pantry Cabinetry

Cobbitty Grove pantry cabinetry is built with the same quality and precision as our kitchen joinery. Here is what a typical pantry project includes:

  • Adjustable shelving so you can reconfigure storage as your needs change over time
  • Pull-out drawers and baskets for heavy items like stand mixers, slow cookers, and bulk dry goods
  • Dedicated appliance housing with ventilation and power access for microwaves, coffee machines, and toasters
  • Door-mounted racks for spices, oils, wraps, and other small items that clutter shelves
  • Soft-close hardware on every drawer and door for quiet, durable daily use
  • Integrated lighting options so you can see every shelf clearly, even in deeper pantries
  • Material consistency with your kitchen cabinetry so the pantry feels like a natural extension, not an afterthought

All components are manufactured at our Smeaton Grange workshop and installed by our own team.

Why Your Current Pantry Is Not Working

Most pantry frustrations come down to the same few problems. If any of these sound familiar, custom pantry cabinetry can fix them:

Wasted depth

Standard builder pantries use fixed shelves at a single depth, which means items at the back get forgotten and expire. Pull-out drawers and tiered shelving solve this by bringing everything into view.

No organisation system

Open shelves without zones or dividers lead to a jumble of cans, packets, containers, and appliances. Custom cabinetry creates dedicated zones for each category so everything has a place.

Not enough capacity

As families grow, pantry demand increases. School lunches, bulk shopping, and meal prep all require more storage than a standard builder pantry provides. A redesigned or expanded pantry absorbs that demand without spilling into the kitchen.

Poor access

Corner pantries with fixed shelves and swing doors waste up to 30 percent of their usable area. Replacing them with pull-out systems, bi-fold doors, or a walk-in conversion recovers that space.

How the Process Works

Pantry cabinetry projects at Cobbitty Grove follow the same structured process as all our joinery work:

1. Consultation We visit your home to assess the existing pantry (or the space where you want one built), measure the area, and discuss what you store, what frustrates you, and what your ideal pantry looks like. If the pantry is part of a larger custom kitchen design project, we plan both spaces together for seamless integration.

2. Design and Layout Our designers create a custom pantry layout with 3D drawings. You see shelf heights, drawer positions, appliance zones, and internal fittings before anything is built. Adjustments are made at this stage so the final result matches exactly what you approved.

3. Manufacturing Every shelf, drawer, and panel is built in our Smeaton Grange workshop. Local manufacturing means tight tolerances, consistent quality, and the flexibility to make changes quickly if site conditions require it.

4. Installation Our team installs the pantry cabinetry on a scheduled timeline. If the pantry is part of a kitchen renovation, we coordinate both installs together so the project flows without gaps or delays.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you convert my existing pantry into a walk-in?

In many cases, yes. If there is adjacent space available (such as a neighbouring cupboard, unused corner, or underutilised area), we can reconfigure the layout to create a walk-in. Our designer assesses feasibility during the initial consultation.

How much does custom pantry cabinetry cost?

Pricing depends on the pantry type, size, materials, and internal fittings. Our free Foundations Package includes a detailed quote so you can plan your budget before committing. Pantry cabinetry is often more affordable than homeowners expect, especially when bundled with a kitchen project.

Can the pantry match my existing kitchen cabinetry?

Yes. We colour-match and finish-match pantry cabinetry to your existing kitchen so the two spaces look and feel consistent. If you are renovating both at the same time, we use the same materials throughout.

How long does a pantry cabinetry project take?

A standalone pantry project typically takes four to six weeks from design approval to completed install. If the pantry is part of a kitchen renovation, it is built and installed within the broader project timeline.
